September at SUBTV Perks: Freshers, Boosted Deals and Loads of Student Savings
September was a big month across SUBTV Perks.
Freshers activity took us onto campuses across the UK, students voted for the brands they wanted to see boosted, new offers landed across Perks, and thousands of students had another reason to check what they could save before spending.
Here’s what September looked like.
Freshers 2026 got underway
Freshers was the biggest focus of the month, with SUBTV Perks teams heading onto campus at:
- Roehampton Students' Union
- Brunel University of London
- University College Birmingham
- Lincoln Bishop University
Students visiting the Perks stand could receive £5 Perks credit, enter a £250 prize draw and discover the latest offers available through Perks.
The campaign also extended beyond the universities we attended in person.
Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Bradford joined the Freshers activity with boosted-brand offers, while another 44 venues supported the campaign through SUBTV screens, posters and Perks messaging.
That meant students could discover Perks whether they met us at a Freshers Fayre, spotted the campaign on campus screens or connected through their Students’ Union.
More than 1,000 sign-ups in one week
Freshers also brought a strong wave of new students onto Perks. During the main activation week, we saw more than 1,000 sign-ups, with Freshers Fayres accounting for around 26% of completed registrations during the activation period.
But getting students signed up was only one part of the plan. Throughout September, we also introduced more ways for students to engage with Perks after joining, from voting and boosted deals to referrals and university competition.
Students chose which brands got boosted
Our Perks Daily Vote gave students the chance to decide which brands they wanted to see offering even more value.
Every day, students could vote for their favourites, with the winning brands receiving an additional boost.
Some of the most popular names during Freshers included:
Sainsbury’s
Tesco
IKEA
Uber Eats
The Daily Vote gave students another reason to return to Perks throughout the campaign and meant the offers being highlighted could respond directly to what students wanted.
September's standout deals
There was plenty to save on throughout the month too.
Some of the offers available through Perks during September included:
- 25% at Foot Locker
- 20% at adidas
- 12% at H&M
- 12% at Miller & Carter
- 10% at Primark
Across food, fashion, eating out and everyday spending, the aim was to make Perks useful across the different things students were already spending money on as the new academic year began.
And because offers change regularly, there was always a reason to check back and see what had been added or boosted.
£5 for every friend referred
September also saw the continued push behind Friends With Benefits.
Students could earn £5 Perks credit for every successful friend they referred, with no limit on the number of referrals. So whether it was a housemate, course mate or someone they met during Freshers, helping someone else discover Perks meant more credit to spend.
The university leaderboard
Freshers also brought a bit of competition between campuses.
Our university leaderboard gave students another reason to keep engaging with Perks, with activity driving their uni's position.
And there was a strong incentive to get involved- the winning university would receive every brand on Perks boosted for 24 hours.
Consider it favouritism with benefits.
Perks across campus
Freshers activity was supported throughout September by the wider SUBTV network.
Campus screens, Students’ Union communications, posters, social content and in-person activity all worked together to keep Perks visible during one of the busiest moments of the student calendar. That matters because students move between physical and digital spaces throughout the day.
They might first see Perks on a screen in their Students’ Union, hear about it at a Freshers stand, receive an email from their SU and then open the platform later when they are about to spend.
September was about making sure Perks was there at each of those moments.
Freshers may be over. The savings aren't.
September might mark the start of the academic year, but Perks is designed for much more than Freshers.
October continues with new deals, boosted brands, Daily Votes, referrals and more opportunities for students to save throughout term.
The goal is simple: make checking Perks part of the routine.
Before the food shop.
Before ordering dinner.
Before buying something new.
Before making plans.
Before you spend, check Perks.
Because Freshers might be finished, but paying full price still isn't the plan.
FULL PRICE IS CANCELLED.
