August Roundup: Freshers Ready, New Venues and Network Upgrades
August has been a busy month across the SUBTV network as we prepare for one of the biggest periods in the student calendar.
With Freshers just around the corner, we've been getting campuses, screens and SUBTV Perks ready for the new academic year while continuing to grow and upgrade our estate across the UK.
Prepping for Freshers 2026
Our Freshers campaign this year is built around one simple message: Full price is cancelled.
Through SUBTV Perks, students can access exclusive discounted gift cards from some of the UK's biggest brands across food, fashion, tech, entertainment, travel, shopping and everyday essentials.
The aim is to establish one simple habit from the moment students arrive on campus: before you spend, check Perks.
This year, we're supporting that message with a three-tier Freshers strategy across the SUBTV network, combining on-campus activations with our digital screens, posters, university marketing and refer-a-friend incentives.
At Brunel, Lincoln Bishop, Roehampton and UCB, we'll be taking things offline too, with the SUBTV team on the ground during Freshers. These four campuses have been selected based on location, expected footfall and cost per acquisition, giving us the opportunity to meet students face-to-face and introduce them directly to SUBTV Perks.
Glasgow Caledonian and Bradford will receive dedicated Freshers support through a spotlight of boosted brands across the Freshers period, complementing each university's own student marketing activity.
Across a further 44 venues, Freshers visibility will be driven through our screen network, on-campus posters and refer-a-friend incentives, giving the campaign broad reach across the SUBTV estate.
It means we'll be able to test different approaches across the network, learn what drives the strongest student engagement and use those insights to keep improving our activity throughout the academic year.
UCA Farnham joins the SUBTV estate
August also saw another addition to our growing university network, with UCA Farnham now part of the SUBTV estate.
The University for the Creative Arts campus brings another highly engaged student audience into the network as we continue to expand SUBTV's reach across UK universities.
Major upgrades in Cardiff and Swansea
We've also been investing in our existing estate ahead of the new term.
SWALE in Cardiff has received a full upgrade, including the installation of a brand-new video wall, creating a much stronger visual presence within the venue and giving campaigns an even more impactful platform for reaching students.
Swansea has also undergone a full SUBTV upgrade, refreshing the setup ahead of students returning for the new academic year.
These upgrades are part of our ongoing work to make sure the SUBTV estate continues to deliver high-quality, high-visibility environments for both our university partners and the brands we work with.
Next up: Freshers
With the groundwork now in place, September is all about Freshers.
Between our in-person campus activity, upgraded venues, expanding estate, screen network and the latest SUBTV Perks offering, we'll be reaching students from the moment they arrive on campus and throughout the first weeks of term.
We'll be sharing more from Freshers as activity gets underway – including what students are engaging with, which brands are performing and what we're learning from being on the ground.
Full price is cancelled. Freshers 2026 starts now.
