Legendary Manchester band The Stone Roses have finally confirmed that they will headline three shows next year.

Rumours had been circulating for the last week that they were about to announce their first gigs since 2013. The familiar lemons logo the band had previously used on their albums and posters began appearing around their home town yesterday (2nd November). Just before 7pm they revealed on Facebook and Twitter that they would be playing Manchester City F.C.’s home of the Etihad Stadium on Friday June 17th and Saturday June 18th before headlining Scotland’s T In The Park on Friday July 8th. There is already speculation by bookmakers that they may also headline the Glastonbury Festival.

Featuring singer Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Mani and drummer Reni, The Stone Roses shot to fame in the late 80s. The quartet enjoyed a run of hit singles including Fools Gold, Elephant Stone, One Love, I Wanna Be Adored, Love Spreads and Ten Storey Love Song in addition to their 1989 self-titled debut and its delayed 1994 follow-up Second Coming. After splitting in 1997 they reunited in 2011 but although they played live no new records have been released.
