Song Of The Year Award at the BMI London Awards

Last Monday (19th October) saw Sam Smith receiving the prestigious Song Of The Year Award at the BMI London Awards at a ceremony held at the capital’s Dorchester Hotel.

Presented annually to UK or European songwriters who have had the most performed song on radio and television in the USA, Stay With Me took the honours for last year. The song plus I’m Not The Only One, Latch and Smith’s songwriting contribution to Naughty Boy’s La La La also gained him four more BMI Pop Awards.

2015 really is Smith’s year, he’s currently at the top of the UK charts with Writing’s On The Wall, the theme from the forthcoming James Bond movie Spectre. He has also just received Guinness World Records for his album In The Lonely Hour which at sixty-nine consecutive weeks in the UK Top 10 is the most for a debut record while the other is for being the first artist ever to reach No 1 with a James Bond theme tune.

Smith was clearly delighted ‘This is so amazing! It’s such an honour to be recognised by Guinness World Records. It’s been an unbelievable 18 months – the album exceeded even my wildest dreams thanks to the incredible support of my fans, and to record the first ever Bond theme to reach No.1 in the UK is a real privilege.’

Go Sam Go!
