KRS- One Plice Brutality

KRS-One is known for not mincing his words. The legendary South Bronx-born MC, who came to fame in the mid-80s when New York was being ravaged by a crack-cocaine, recently argued times are much worse now during a live interview with CNN’s Gets Political segment.

“Things have gotten worse because we have an African-American president,” opined KRS, “and it seems like racism in the United States is overflowing. There’s no order in the United States, so now there’s lawlessness.”

The rapper behind Boogie Down Productions game-changing 1987 LP Criminal Minded and 1993’s street hit Sound Of Da Police cited the recent high profile deaths of Trayvon Martin and Freddie Gray at the hands of law enforcement agents, just two of over 1,000 people killed by police officers in 2015.

“This is the problem with the United States,” he continued. “There’s no leadership. A leader would say, ‘Police brutality is an oxymoron. There are no brutal police. The minute you become brutal, you’re no longer the police.’ So what we’re dealing with out here… we’re not dealing with police. We’re dealing with a federally authorized gang.”

The rapper was equally withering about the presidential candidates staking out their claims in the 2016 election. “All of these candidates are a joke,” he sighed, “All of them are scripted and there’s a hidden hand behind them… If we’re not going to have a real discussion about the real state of America, leave me the f**k alone.”
