Jamie Foxx - A Hero Both On And Off Screen!

American singer, comedian and Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx has often played the role of a hero in the movies but last Monday (18th January) he was hailed a hero for real.

A 32 year old man Brett Kyle, who was reportedly speeding while under the influence, hit a drain ditch and flipped his truck which then burst into flames outside Jamie Foxx’s home in Hidden Valley, Ventura County, California. With little regard for his own safety, the forty-eight year old star who had witnessed the accident on his security monitors, helped pull the man from the burning vehicle.

Foxx revealed to the local KCAL TV crew:

‘As I’m getting him out, I said, “You’ve got to help me get you out because I don’t want to have to leave you”, I said, “You’ve angels around you.”’

The following day Kyle’s father Brad travelled to the scene where he embraced Jamie Foxx and praised his actions, although the actor downplayed his involvement in the rescue:

‘I don’t look at it as heroic. I just look at it as like … you just had to do something y’know and it all just worked out.’

Whatever the actor’s own feelings Brad Kyle has no doubt he is a hero:

‘I think we all hope that we could do something when the time is there but the question is do we, do we act or do we fear (for) our own lives and he did not.’

That was also a sentiment shared by Ventura County Fire Department Captain Mike Lindbery:

‘It was a pretty courageous thing to do, It’s rare these days that you find someone willing to jump in to help like that.’

Jamie Foxx later posted a picture on Instagram of the moment Brad Kyle hugged him and attached the comment:

‘Met the father of the young man from last night today. This is all that matters. That a man, a son, a brother’s life was spared last night. God had his arms wrapped around all of us…No heroes…Just happy fathers.’
