Alt-J announce new album and autumn UK tour

The group’s second album ‘This Is All Yours’ is set for release in September

Great news for Alt-J fans: the band have just announced plans for a new record and a six-date UK tour.

Their genre-straddling 2012 debut ‘An Awesome Wave’ won the Mercury Music Prize, so the bar has already been set pretty high.

Last year they told Rolling Stone they felt “no pressure” to make a second album. Bearing in mind that their first one took five years of songwriting and rehearsing, the outlook wasn’t great for fans who were hungry for another record.

But their Twitter feed showed some rare rumblings earlier this year with a few vague clues:

And they’ve just confirmed a release date and title. ‘This Is All Yours’ will come out on 22nd September, which coincides with the tour.  The 13-track LP is Alt-J’s first output as a trio since the departure of bassist Gwil Sainsbury in January and is available to preorder.

They’re keeping their lips sealed as far as creative influences are concerned, so it’s not clear how far they’re moving away from their distinctive sound. But when your debut wins basically all the awards ever, people should be excited about what you do next.

Get in on the action on these dates:

Glasgow O2 Academy (18th September)
Manchester Apollo (19th)
Wolverhampton Civic Hall (22nd)
Brighton Centre (23rd)
London Alexandra Palace (24th)
Dublin O2 Arena (27th)
